This post is sponsored by Sherwin-Williams® We hear a lot about how to do things the right way. Especially in the DIY world. The right way to paint, the right way to build, the right way to caulk, and a million other right ways. But what happens if you don't do it the right way? What does it look like!? Does the universe implode?! Given that this is the year 2020, we should all make a group pact to not test it. Pinky promise! Although much of the article is about painting walls and using rollers, most of the suggestions apply to any type of painting.  I say the same things in my classes, but it's refreshing to hear it from another professional! 8 ft square barn quilt project!

Image
This request came in from a barn owner in Creal Springs!  His barn is being built this fall and he wants the BQ ready s the contractor can install it.  A prototype of the project is in the background of the second picture. The styrofoam is to keep the panel from getting scratched and the smaller pieces are for me to kneel on as I paint.  Don't want to leave knee depressions in the aluminum composite panels.

What a GREAT class this was!  Almost 5 hours for everyone to finish, but great fun!

Paint cures for 30 days!

Image
Ignore that yellow smudge...    Read that paragraph!!   This explains that paint typically dries to the touch in 30 minutes...   4 hours to recoat and 30 days to fully harden.   Think about that!  30 days to harden.   That's why panels seem to stick together when you stack them against each other...   I put my panels out in the sun for a full day when I finish painting them.  Let the sun speed the drying and curing!! Happy Day!    Jeff  jeff@TheBarnQuilter.net 717-620-9676

Prince’s association with the color purple was galvanized in 1984 with the release of the film Purple Rain, along with its Academy Award-winning soundtrack featuring the eponymous song. While the spectrum of the color purple will still be used in respect to the “Purple One,” Love Symbol #2, will be the official color across the brand he left behind. When we think about Prince, we see a uniquely brilliant artist who continually throughout his illustrious career broke new ground as he perpetually challenged the norms in whatever space he played, leaving behind an indelible mark on music, art, fashion and culture. Paying tribute by developing...
